Heartsaver FA/CPR/AED is for anyone with limited or no medical training who wants to learn first aid and CPR. A course completion card is available to individuals who need one to meet job, regulatory or other requirements. This course is ideal for coaches, scouting leaders, workplace first responders, non-medical home health care workers, and others.
This class combines the curriculum of the Heartsaver First Aid course with Heartsaver CPR/AED course. Students learn to perform basic first aid procedures. They will also be taught and practice basic CPR skills and how to use an AED. Skills taught in this course are in compliance with OSHA recommendations.
This course is available in traditional or blended class formats.
Traditional courses are video-based classes led by certified instructors in a classroom setting. Blended classes use online programs and skill sessions for those who prefer a non-classroom method of learning. (Click here to learn more about these options.)
Topics covered include:
- Key changes reflecting the new science from the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines for
- Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care
- First aid basics
- Medical emergencies
- Injury emergencies
- Environmental emergencies
- Adult CPR and AED use
- Optional modules in child CPR and AED use and infant CPR
- Optional written test
Skills are taught by combining live and video demonstrations with hands on practice. Classes are led by certified instructors who have real life experience. Students who successfully complete the skills assessment and multiple choice exam, will receive a course completion card valid for 2 years.
